    Let the Apprenticeship begin!

    Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 4:31 PM [General]

After two weeks of planning, my Tattoo art Apprenticeship could start as soon as a week from now.  My mentor is an old friend of mine from high-school, who I've been designing Flash Art for 3 years now.  This is the biggest, most awesome opprotunity I've ever had.  After working in sales, construction, consultation, etc.... Yuck!

To give everybody some background on my experience as an artist, my training spans from the age 4-present.  My favorite toy as a young child was the quick erase Was paper drawing pads.  As I grew older I graduated to pencil & pen, Began watching Anime in the forms of Voltron, Transformaers, Robotech, G.i. Joe, Thunder Cats, He-Man, and the list never stops.

I took a few years of "Art" class as they called it back home, and a couple of years with different forward thinking Journeyman Artists that helped me evolve my own style, instead of ad-hereing to just one medium.  With that hard to come-by wisdom, I began collecting issues of comics during the golden age of my life, late 80's & early 90's.  Talents like Todd McFarlane recreating Spider Man's image, Jim Lee doing the X-men (But more importantly still was Arthur Adams, the X-Men artist before him), Mark Silvestri, etc...

A year after High School, I hitched a ride to a underground comic company and ended up doing a 1 year apprentice-ship. Learning about real comic book Layout, character design, and the basics of being a career artist.

Since then a lot's happened, but 2 & 1/2 years ago an old friend and I reconnected.  We have been working ever since on a dream that consists of a  Tattoo Shop,  Featuring all kinds of custom graphic applications.  Most importantly though are the Ideas of what's next!
